KU LEUVEN

Situated in Belgium, in the heart of Western Europe, KU Leuven has been a centre of learning for nearly six centuries. Today, it is Belgium's largest university and, founded in 1425, one of the oldest and most renowned universities in Europe. As a leading European research university and co-founder of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), KU Leuven offers a wide variety of international Master’s programmes, all supported by high-quality, innovative, interdisciplinary research. KU Leuven is also member of Coimbra Group and Venice International University. KU Leuven has a strong record of securing funding from the most competitive research funds and was named Europe’s most innovative university four years in a row by Reuters (2016-2019).

Since its founding, KU Leuven has been based in the city that shares its name. Leuven is a pleasant, safe and bustling student town, where centuries-rich history meets cutting-edge science. The university also offers degree programmes at campuses in 11 Belgian cities over 14 campuses. KU Leuven has Erasmus contracts with over 400 European universities and international contracts all over the world. Close to 20% of the university’s 60,000+ students are international, representing over 140 nationalities (2021).

The university also works with a select number of top-level partner institutions worldwide, and stimulates powerful international mobility and intensive research cooperation. Internationalisation is key in the policy of the university's new board. KU Leuven also takes the lead in the “European Universities” initiative by coordinating the 1Europe project.

KU Leuven holds over 100 international projects in educational interuniversity cooperation.

The strength of FET programmes lies in their unique combination of research-based curricula and practice-based courses, in the tight organisational and functional links with regional and international companies, and the specifically student-oriented educational approach. This link to the professional field in research and scientific service creates a learning and working environment very close to the application of knowledge and new technologies, and industrial practice. That’s how we can provide our future industrial engineers with a strong and specific position in the innovation chain, close to implementation.

Furthermore internationalization@home is one of the 4 pillars of the policy plan for internationalization of the Faculty of Engineering Technology.

The Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara is one of the most prestigious medical schools in Romania. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1945. Its 360 ECTS programme is available ion Romanian, English and French. It also offers 180 ECTS programmes in various nursing specialties.

The Faculty of Dental Medicine offers courses in Romanian and English and it has been categorised as an “A-level” higher education institution, as far as study programmes are concerned.

The Faculty of Pharmacy was established in 1991 and represents a landmark of education and culture in the western part of Romania, being committed to forming specialists in the pharmaceutical field. Its five-year programme offers classes in Romanian and in French. Our medium- and long-term educational strategy involves the implementation of curricular reform in all our study programmes, in order to meet the requirements of European higher education. The curricular reform means passing from linear curricula to modular/integrated curricula which will include the development of the students’ practical, communication and research skills.

Post-graduate medical and pharmaceutical education offers graduates the possibility to specialise in a certain field in order to gain more comprehensive knowledge and new skills which are necessary to enhance the quality of healthcare and of competence in the chosen specialisation. Specialisation is carried out in our teaching hospitals, specialised laboratories and classrooms, residents having full access to our entire equipment (audio-visual, multimedia, etc).

All our graduates have the possibility to continue their education by enrolling into a Master or doctoral programme.
